Kathmandu: On Saturday, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli announced a fresh agreement between Nepal and India aimed at resolving bilateral issues through dialogue and collaboration.
During a press conference at Tribhuvan International Airport after returning from Thailand, where he participated in the 6th BIMSTEC Summit, Oli highlighted the commitment of both nations to address differences through constructive discussions.
Oli had a significant meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the sidelines of the BIMSTEC summit, where they agreed to enhance cooperation in trade, transportation, and disaster relief efforts, particularly in light of recent earthquakes in Myanmar and Thailand.
Describing his discussions with Modi as 'very fruitful,' Oli expressed satisfaction with the outcomes.
He stated, 'This time, we have established a framework for dialogue to address any emerging issues between our countries.'
The talks encompassed various aspects of bilateral cooperation, including investments, trade, the multi-purpose Pancheshwar Project, and irrigation initiatives in Dodhara Chandani utilizing the Mahakali River.
Although Modi will not attend the upcoming Sagarmatha Sambaad in Nepal due to prior engagements in Europe, he assured that senior Indian officials would represent the country at this international mountain dialogue.
Scheduled for next month, the event will tackle critical global challenges such as climate change and global warming.
Reaffirming his dedication to regional collaboration, Oli stated, 'Prime Minister Modi and I are committed to further enhancing and solidifying the relationship between Nepal and India.'
