A Kentucky teacher was arrested for allegedly soliciting a male juvenile inmate to kill her husband while also engaging in illegal sexual contact with him.
Elena Bardin , 27, was taken into custody on Wednesday, after a routine search at Adair Juvenile Detention Center uncovered explicit letters and materials in the boy’s possession. The materials, allegedly sent by Bardin, led to an investigation by the Kentucky State Police (KSP), which uncovered further evidence of the alleged crimes.
According to The New York Post, authorities claim Bardin subjected the juvenile to illegal sexual contact and sent him sexually explicit images. Police also allege she “solicited” the same boy to murder her husband, though details on how or why she made the request have not been disclosed.
There is no indication that an attempt was made on her husband's life, reported The New York Post.
The investigation began on March 27 when detention center staff conducted a routine search of the juveniles' living units. Upon discovering the explicit material, they immediately contacted KSP. Further investigation confirmed that Bardin, a teacher assigned to work at the facility, had been in communication with the juvenile and had allegedly committed the offenses.
As per the KSP, Bardin was arrested and is now lodged at the Adair County Detention Center . She has been charged with solicitation of murder, first-degree sexual abuse , and distributing obscene material to a minor . Jail records indicate that no bond has been set for her release.
Authorities have not disclosed the age of the juvenile involved or why he was in detention. However, he has not been charged with any crime related to the alleged offenses.
The case remains under investigation, with Detective Mike Dubree leading the inquiry. Bardin does not have a lawyer listed at this time and no court date has been set for her first appearance.
