NEW DELHI: The Indian Navy on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of Lieutenant Vinay Narwal , who was among those 28 killed in the Pahalgam terror attack on Tuesday.
In an official statement, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi , Chief of Naval Staff, and all ranks of the Indian Navy conveyed their shock and grief at the loss of the young officer, who fell victim to what they called a "dastardly terror attack."
“Adm Dinesh K Tripathi, CNS, and all Personnel of the Indian Navy are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Lt Vinay Narwal who fell to the dastardly terror attack in Pahalgam. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family during this moment of unimaginable grief. The Indian Navy also stands in solemn solidarity with all others that lost their lives in this heinous act of violence. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims' families,” the Navy said in its statement.
The Navy also offered prayers for the swift recovery of all those injured in the attack.
Lieutenant Narwal, 26, had recently married and was on leave with his wife Himanshi, vacationing in Kashmir for their honeymoon. A native of Bhusli village in Haryana ’s Karnal district, Narwal was the only son of his parents and had been posted at the Southern Naval Command in Kochi.
He was declared brought dead at the hospital after sustaining bullet injuries to the chest, neck and arm.
The Narwal family had hosted a grand post-wedding celebration on April 19 before the couple left for their trip. Details about Himanshi’s condition are still awaited.
