Multiple loud explosions were reported in Muzaffarabad and other areas of Pakistan shortly after midnight, as India launched precision air strikes on nine locations across the region and deep into Pakistan.
Pakistan’s military confirmed the strikes, with Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry calling them a “cowardly attack” by India. He said missiles were fired at Kotli, Bahawalpur, and Muzaffarabad in the early hours, with one of the targets being the Subhanullah mosque in Bahawalpur’s Ahmed East area.
Defence minitry confirmed the strikes under what it called ‘Operation Sindoor’, targeting nine terror camps across Pakistan. The operation follows the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 people – including one Nepali national – were killed.
“These actions were taken in response to the barbaric attack in Pahalgam. India has carried out focused and measured strikes with no intention to escalate,” the Ministry of Defence said. “No Pakistani military installations were targeted.”
