Alex Ovechkin talked about playing hockey a day after he lost his older, Sergei Ovechkin, with Graham Besinger in 2018, “It was hard. I was crying. I remember I was crying that day. I was on the bench. I was crying, but (during) my shifts, my coach said, ‘Okay, go play.’ I play, and I was crying. You’re 10 years old. Obviously, you don’t realize what’s happening. It was hard moment for my mom and dad and all my family. Older son pass away. It was hard time.”

Alex Ovechkin shared with Graham Besinger in an interview 6 years ago, “I’m sure he’s proud of me right now looking at me from upstairs. If that kind of a situation happens, if he be here right now, I don’t know if I’m gonna be a hockey player or not. So, I don’t know what’s going to happen if he be alive. Maybe I’m not a hockey player.”

Alex Ovechkin’s brother Sergei gave him power and emotions
When Alex Ovechkin won his Stanley Cup Championship in 2018, he visited his older brother Sergei’s grave. “For me, it was a very important moment to spend time with my brother. I know he’s above (looking over my shoulder). And the same with Natya’s mom. They look at me.
