LGBTQIA short films to be screened in Kolkata

The British Council, in collaboration with the British Film Institute Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival, is hosting special screenings of Five Films For Freedom at the British Council on March 28. This global short film programme showcases powerful LGBTQIA+ stories from around the world, spotlighting resilience, identity, and the strength of community.

This year’s selection features five impactful short films, each celebrating diverse LGBTQIA+ experiences from Indonesia, New Zealand, China, Switzerland, and the UK. The films explore themes of self-discovery, societal challenges, and the power of acceptance. The films are: DragFox – directed by Lisa Ott, If I Make it to the Morning – directed by Andre Shen, NGGAK!!! – directed by Oktania Hamdani and Winner Wijaya, We’ll Go Down in History – directed by unknown, and Wait, Wait, Now! – directed by Ramon Te Wake. The films will also be available online from March 19 to 30 March.
