Met Gala 2025: Shah Rukh Khan's fans OUTRAGED over 'disrespectful' and 'clueless' interviewers - 'They had no idea who they were talking to'

Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated debut at the Met Gala 2025 may have dazzled fashion critics and fans alike, but a moment that was meant to celebrate the Bollywood icon took an unexpected turn, sparking backlash online.

As Khan made his way down the blue carpet in a striking all-black Sabyasachi ensemble, embodying grace and humility, fans got their hands on his interviews on the carpet. The clips, however, had many calling out foreign media for being “disrespectful” and “uninformed”.

Some interviewers, according to fans, appeared ill-prepared and unaware of the superstar’s global stature. A video clip that quickly went viral shows Khan engaging politely with hosts who seemed unfamiliar with his legacy. In the video doing the rounds online, the Bollywood superstar introduced himself to the cameras. Extending a warm greeting to the foreign media at the event, the actor was seen saying, "Hi, I'm well, thank you."

The interviewer can be heard introducing herself before asking Khan, "What is your name?"


"I'm Shah Rukh," he said with a smile and nod before the woman proceeded to ask about his outfit and look for the evening.

In another interview off the Met carpet, fans believed that designer Sabyasachi "looked offended" because "they didn’t know who Shah Rukh Khan was". One noted how the designer "had to literally mention 'SRK is one of the most famous people in the world'....... Uhhhhh."





During the chat, Sabya said, "To give a bit of context, Shah Rukh Khan is probably one of the most famous men in the world and his fan following is legendary. We nearly had a stampede outside the hotel. When you get a man like this on the red carpet, representation is the most important thing. You want to represent Shah Rukh Khan as Shah Rukh Khan, and nobody else."



“They had no idea who they were talking to,” one fan tweeted, while another wrote, “Shah Rukh Khan is one of the biggest stars in the world — this level of unpreparedness is embarrassing.”

Supporters pointed out that Khan, whose influence spans over three decades and whose fan base crosses continents, deserved to be introduced with the reverence given to Hollywood A-listers. Many highlighted the contrast between his humility and the apparent lack of context provided by the media team.

Despite it all, Khan remained his usual gracious self, sharing heartfelt remarks about his children’s excitement, his collaboration with designer Sabyasachi, and his nervousness about attending such a grand event for the first time.
