Milk turns rubbery after boiling, video viral, probe ordered

Ludhiana: The health department has collected milk samples from a household in Khanna after the family reported that a rubber-like substance formed when they boiled it. The family recorded a video of the incident and shared it on social media, prompting a response from the authorities.

Harsh, a resident of Khanna, said they had purchased the milk and stored it in the refrigerator. Later, when they heated it, a rubbery substance began to form. Concerned, the family contacted local social organisations, which then raised the issue with the district administration.

Another family member reported that the milk had caused health issues, including abdominal pain in children.

Dr Jatinder Virk, an official from the health department, visited the household after receiving information about the incident. A department team collected samples of the milk and said they would also collect a sample from the seller. All samples will be sent to the laboratory for testing.

When asked whether such a substance could naturally form in milk, a health department official declined to comment, saying the laboratory results would provide clarity. The official said appropriate action would be taken once the test reports are received.

Sources in the health department said while some milk samples are occasionally found to be substandard, there is at present no official recognition of the concept of ‘fake milk'.
