3 drug peddlers nabbed, heroin & drug money seized

Ludhiana: The crime branch team of Ludhiana police has arrested three drug peddlers after recovering 290 grams of heroin and Rs 1 lakh drug money from them in separate cases. The accused have been identified as Muhammad Gufran of Hajipur district in Bihar, Danish Ansari of Motihari in Bihar, and Muhammad Kamil.

Giving details, ADCP Amandeep Brar said a team of the crime branch, led by Inspector Beant Juneja, arrested the drug peddlers and recovered a total of 290 grams of heroin and drug money worth Rs 1 lakh from them.

In the first case, the cops said the police team was checking suspicious persons and vehicles near Bhamian Chowk when ASI Raj Kumar received information that accused Muhammad Gufran and Danish Ansari, were going on a motorcycle carrying heroin. He added that there was no number plate on the bike and both accused were waiting for customers on Bhamian Road. Cops further said that the police took immediate action based on the information, arrested the duo, and recovered 270 grams of heroin and Rs 1 lakh from their possession.

In the second case, the police were checking suspicious vehicles when they got a tip-off that an accused, Mohammad Kamil, was going to "supply" heroin near Satsang Ghar close to Iqbal Nagar bridge. Cops said that police arrested the accused and recovered 20 grams of heroin from him.

Police officials said that police are ascertaining from where the accused got the consignments and to whom they were going to supply the same. Police sources said that Gufran and Danish have previous cases against them, but Kamil doesn't have a criminal past.
