Air Marshal S Sivakumar VSM has officially assumed the prestigious position of Air Officer-in-Charge Administration (AOA) at Air Headquarters, New Delhi, marking a significant milestone in a distinguished career that spans over three and a half decades in the Indian Air Force (IAF).
Commissioned into the Administration Branch of the Indian Air Force in June 1990, Air Marshal S Sivakumar has consistently demonstrated unwavering commitment, strong leadership, and strategic acumen. Academically accomplished, he holds an MBA in Human Resource Management from Pondicherry University and an M.Phil. in Defence and Strategic Studies from Osmania University—credentials that complement his extensive operational experience.
An Illustrious Career of Over 35 YearsAir Marshal Sivakumar has held numerous pivotal Command and Staff appointments, each playing a crucial role in enhancing the operational effectiveness and strategic growth of the Indian Air Force. In the early stages of his career, he served as the Senior Air Traffic Control Officer at a forward air base and also represented the IAF in the United Nations Mission in Congo, demonstrating both technical expertise and diplomatic skill on a global stage.
He has held several key appointments, including Air Force Examiner, Chief Administrative Officer at a leading flying station, Command Works Officer, and Command Personnel Staff Officer at two major Operational Commands. These assignments positioned him at the forefront of critical decision-making in areas such as infrastructure development, logistics coordination, and personnel administration.
In the following years, he further cemented his reputation in administration by serving as the Air Officer Commanding of an Equipment Depot, where he played a crucial role in ensuring seamless logistical support to operational units. Later, as the Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Air Force Works) at Air Headquarters, he was entrusted with the strategic planning and implementation of infrastructure and works services across the Indian Air Force.
Most recently, Air Marshal Sivakumar served as the Director General (Administration) at Air Headquarters, where he was instrumental in modernizing administrative processes and enhancing efficiency in personnel and infrastructure management. Prior to this, he also served as the Senior Officer-in-Charge Administration of an Operational Command, where he was responsible for a vast network of bases and their day-to-day functioning.
Recognition and HonoursIn recognition of his exemplary service, Air Marshal Sivakumar was honoured with the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) — a distinguished award presented for rendering outstanding service of a high order to the nation.
