In a historic move towards modernizing India’s railway infrastructure, Prime Minister will inaugurate 103 redeveloped railway stations across the country on May 22 under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. This ambitious initiative marks a significant milestone in the government’s mission to transform railway stations into world-class hubs of travel, culture, and connectivity.

Responding to a post on social media platform X by Union Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, PM Modi remarked:

“Tomorrow, 22nd May is a landmark day for India’s railway infrastructure. The Amrit Stations will boost comfort, connectivity and celebrate our glorious culture!”

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme aims to rejuvenate over 1,300 in India, focusing on modern amenities, improved passenger experiences, and sustainable development. The 103 stations being inaugurated are part of the first phase of this nationwide transformation, featuring upgraded facilities such as modern waiting lounges, clean and spacious platforms, better signage, and improved accessibility for differently-abled passengers.

Each redeveloped station also reflects elements of regional art, culture, and architecture, making them not just transport nodes but also cultural landmarks. This large-scale initiative is expected to enhance not just the travel experience of millions of passengers but also boost local economies and employment.

The inauguration on May 22 will be a major step in realizing the vision of a New India, where infrastructure development goes hand in hand with cultural pride and technological advancement.
