Police are investigating the death of a young boy after he was savagely mauled by two Rottweiler dogs.
Kaimir Jones, two, was brutally attacked by two Rottweilers whilst in the care of an unlicensed nursery in Valdosta, Georgia, United States.
The tragic incident unfolded when Kaimir's mother, Adrianna Jones, left him in the care of Stacy Wheeler Cobb, 48, who operated the unlicensed childcare facility.
However, on the day of the incident, Kaimir was the sole child present at the premises.
Cobb informed police that she had gone for an afternoon nap and presumed that Kaimir was also having a rest, reports the Mirror.
During this time, Kaimir managed to venture outside into the garden where the two Rottweilers, kept in a kennel, were kept. At this moment, the dogs set upon and killed him before emergency responders could reach the scene.
Following the savage attack, Mrs Cobb was detained by police and transported to Lowndes County Jail and charged, reports People, with second degree cruelty to children and second degree murder.
In the wake of the horrific tragedy, Kaimir's mother Adrianna has set up a GoFundMe page, which has collected just over $32,774 (£24,472) of its $40,000 (£29,867) target.
In a statement on the page, Adrianna spoke about her experiences of that day and why she had chosen that daycare. She said: "I'm a single mom of one child, my heart, my 2 year old, Kaimir Jones.
"I am also a hard working, loving mom trying to make a life for me and my son. I was at work and my son was murdered at a home daycare. A home daycare, that was highly recommended"
Adrianna further revealed that upon her early departure from work, police officers were already present at the scene.
She explained: "The only reason I know something happened is because the owner usually communicates throughout the day and she hadn't responded in about 3 hours.
"My intuition as a mother said get off work early and see what's going on. I got off early and pulled up to 8 polices at the home daycare's location. They were already inside taking pictures and so forth.
"This was a heartbreaking, devastating and traumatising scene that I wouldn't wish on anyone. I found my baby like this. Investigation is still underway.
"Unfortunately, I did not have any life insurance for my two-year-old son, so I am asking the community for help with raising funds for his memorial funeral. Anything will help and anything is appreciated. Thank you."
In a statement, Chief of the Valdosta Police Department Leslie Manahan said: "This is a horrible and tragic event that should have never occurred, but because of negligence on this offender's behalf, a mother has tragically lost a child."
