Strictly Come Dancing bosses have had their final say after viewers made desperate pleas for Chris Robshaw to return to the star-studded competition following his week four exit. The former rugby player and his pro partner, Nadiya Bychkova, found themselves in the bottom two with EastEnders' Balvinder Sopal and her partner Julian Caillon. However, after the judges tied on two votes each, Craig Revel Horwood opted to save the actress.
Following his departure, Neighbours icon Stefan Dennis quit the competition after tearing his calf muscle during the Saturday live show and was unable to continue. In an emotional statement, he told fans: "I can't tell you how devastated I am to have to leave so prematurely, especially as there has been and still is so much love and support from everyone for both Dianne and myself." The Aussie legend added: "I owe both the Strictly family and Dianne a massive debt of gratitude for giving me the opportunity to fulfil my dream of being able to dance with my wife. (When my leg is better)." While fans were devastated by his unexpected departure, fans made calls for Chris to make a comeback and replace Stefan's place in the contest.
Now the bosses have said to have given their verdict on the future of the BBC dance competition and Chris' future on the show.
According to BBC sources via MailOnline, the athlete will not make his highly anticipated comeback.
The insider claimed: "The judges have had the final say on Chris's future in the competition and we would not seek to overturn that. So he will not be returning to compete on Strictly Come Dancing.
"Following Stefan Dennis' sad departure from Strictly, we will run the competition as usual. But instead of the usual four-person final, there will instead be only three finalists."
The Daily Express has approached the BBC for comment
While bosses have yet to confirm these claims, Chris' wife Camilla hit out at one Strictly Come Dancing judge after the former rugby player was eliminated from the competition, citing their "year from hell."
Taking to Instagram, she penned: "We are so proud of you @chrisrobshawrugbyYou will always be our champion. The show has given us some amazing family memories to cherish forever. You have bought us so much joy doing Strictly.
"It's been a year from hell, but like always, you continue to put your family first, and show up for us even in the toughest times. Thank you for being our forever winner, you are our boys world (including Rico), and the best human."
Camilla continued: "To see you thriving, and living your best life in sequins, has been brilliant. We know how hard you trained, and how much you loved this experience. We are so proud of you. And the boys will always mark you a ten for being the best daddy. You are good enough, and we love you. Forever our winner."
