Meghan Markle is plotting a "ruthless" move to win back UK public, a royal expert has claimed. Prince Harry is set to host the Invictus Games in Birmingham in July 2027 - with Meghan Markle predicted to be in attendance in support of her husband.
The Duchess of Sussex's popularity in the UK has plummeted in the past few years - especially since Harry and Meghan's decision to step away from royal duties. The former working royal now resides in California with Harry and their children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.
Speaking to the Express, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said: "She will, of course, be expected to attend in Birmingham, not to do so would be a public humiliation."
Discussing Meghan's expected appearance at the Invictus Games, he added: "However, the Invictus Games is Meghan's trump cards and she is likely to play it ruthlessly. This involves approving moves towards 'reconciliation'."
He also discussed a potential appearance from Meghan, in light of Harry's recent comment about his father being no longer on speaking terms with him, saying: "Meghan will calculate that this could lead to useful PR in Birmingham which she rather obviously needs."
Mr Fitzwilliams's comment comes shortly after reports that the King's Communications Secretary and Harry's new US-based PR chief were recently photographed on a club terrace.
The meeting, from which the Mail on Sunday obtained a picture from, sparked speculation of potential "peace talks" regarding the monarch and his youngest son.
It has been reported that the meeting was backed by both parties, as well as by Meghan.
Mr Fitzwilliams added: "However, the so called 'secret meeting' between King Charles' Communications Secretary and two of the Sussexes' most senior aides obviously occurred with her full backing. We do not know who leaked it to the press."
The meeting between the King and Harry's aides was described as an "informal drink" rather than a formal negotiation after it was speculated that Harry and Meghan Markle had been behind the leaking of details of the meeting.
