Making a good pasta bake will be much easier with 's , which you can even prepare in advance. A pasta bake is a comforting, satisfying dish that you can serve for friends and family or just slice up for yourself. If you are going to eat the dish on the same day you are preparing it, you will first need to preheat your oven to gas mark six before lining two baking trays with non-stick baking paper.

Next, arrange the aubergine slices in a single layer on the prepared trays and drizzle over the oil.

Don't forget to season with salt and pepper at this point before roasting for 20 to 25 minutes.

After this, lay the pasta sheets in a dish and cover with hot water for 10 minutes to soften.

To assemble, spoon a third of the sauce in the base of the prepared dish, top with a third of the béchamel.

Arrange a third of the aubergines on top and three sheets of lasagne. Repeat so you have three layers of sauce and two layers of , sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan.

Leave to stand for one hour before cooking, or overnight if you're making this for the next day.

When it comes to , bake for 35 to 45 minutes until golden-brown and bubbling.

You'll be left with a delicious which is great when served with a side salad or garlic bread.
