If you're a British Gas customer, you might be able to get 15% off your bills and as winter rolls around, there's no better time to check if you're eligible. Money Saving Expert, Martin Lewis, has revealed that there are serious savings available from energy giant British Gas.
The expert says a Collective Switch means "member groups" are now eligible to take up offers which undercut other energy firms. With the fixes recommended by the money expert, you can lock in a rate so that it won't rise for a set time. On his website, he says: "These fixes are all very substantially cheaper than the Cap, meaning savings of £100s for many."
British Gas have agreed to a Money Saving Expert enhanced service which means you could be eligible.
You'll have to be a "member", which is defined as anyone who had signed up to the MSE weekly email before September 26.
It also includes anyone signed up to MSE's Cheap Energy Club by the same date.
You can check MSE's full comparison which is based on your usage and location. You do not need a smart meter to access these tariffs.
Under the deal, British Gas offer a 14 month fix for both new and existing customers.
Money Saving Expert says: "This is the cheapest British Gas fix since Sept 2021 and is an average 15.2% less than the new Oct 1 Price Cap."
It adds that if you're on a British Gas fix already, it won't charge you early exit fees to switch to this. If you exit early, there will be a penalty of £50/ fuel.
However, you'll have to be quick as there are only a total of 40,000 switches available.
The deal runs on a first come, first served basis so make sure you make the switch as soon as possible if you're interested.
