ITV's gripping medical thriller Malpractice is gearing up for its highly anticipated second season debut, after the first series took the screen by storm in 2023.
The first series centred around Dr Lucinda Edwards (Niamh Algar), who becomes the focus of a medical investigation after a patient dies during her shift.
Shortly after its release, the show landed an impressive 86% critic's score on review site Rotten Tomatoes, with reviewers praising the relevance of the storyline and Niamh's "strong lead performance".
Season two introduces viewers to Dr James Ford (Tom Hughes), an on-call psychiatric registrar who navigates a tumultuous personal life while tackling the pressures of his high-stakes job.
"When on-call psychiatric registrar Dr James Ford finds himself caught between an anxious new mother's postnatal check-up and the sectioning of a psychotic patient, no one could predict the tragic outcome," reads the official synopsis.
Norma Callahan (Helen Behan) and George Adjei (Jordan Kouame) from the Medical Investigation Unit are quick on the scene to delve into Dr Ford's actions, reports .
"Yet what appears to be a series of bad choices by one doctor spreads beyond the psychiatric unit to a hospital seemingly at war with itself. Is Dr Ford a doctor with a God complex, or a victim himself?" the logline continues.
"With the investigation closing in, can Dr Ford save his already fragile career from a string of apparently damning mistakes? And can the MIU uncover the truth of what happened despite fierce opposition from all sides?"
