has warned Nathan Aspinall that he may about to be hit in the pocket after his foul-mouthed rant at Players Championship 13. 'The Asp' has been in resurgent form lately, in Manchester last week, and took that form into Rosmalen on Monday.
The world No.7 reached the final before being beaten 8-6 by Damon Heta. However, he had to overcome a moment of frustration earlier in the tournament when he took on Martin Lukeman. At the start of the fourth leg, the 33-year-old badly pulled his first effort and didn't try to hide his annoyance.
Shaking his head, he shouted "f***ing w***" before trying to regain his composure. He managed that by defying a modest average of just 84.17 to win 6-2.
Afterwards, though, the post-tournament talk wasn't centred around Aspinall's win or final appearance. Footage of his x-rated comment soon went viral on social media, with TikToker @tomtalksdarts showing the video to his 28,600 followers.
"That four-second clip there has probably cost Nathan Aspinall a couple of hundred quid," said the social media user. "Nathan Aspinall, expressing his views in a rather interesting manner at the board. And the averages themselves probably tell you why Aspinall was so frustrated."
Littler duly weighed in, replying to the video by commenting: "Could [sic] hundred you don't know what's coming his way." That remark amused the darts fanatic, who replied: "Ahahahaha."
Aspinall received £10,000 for his runner-up finish. Given it was a non-televised match in the Netherlands, he's unlikely to be hit by a severe sanction despite having previous with darts' authorities.
In 2022, he was in hot water after making a lewd hand gesture at the Cazoo Grand Slam of Darts. The incident was caught live on Sky Sports, with the Englishman later fined £250 for his behaviour.
The Englishman was fined £250 for an inappropriate gesture in 2022 and might be anticipating a similar fine on this occasion.
