is under fire after punters slammed the prices at his countryside boozer - with one furious visitor slamming the cost of pie and veg at a whopping £24. The backlash kicked off on X, formerly Twitter, when a social media user fumed: "Thought @JeremyClarkson wanted an affordable pub for customers. £24 for pie and veg is a bit much." Clarkson was quick to bite back: "Have you seen beef prices right now? If you could make it for less, I'll give you a job."
When another fan questioned whether the meat came from Clarkson's own cows, he responded: "Some are. Most come from other farmers in the area and we pay a premium. We are here to back British farming. If you don't want to do that, fine. Enjoy your chlorine." Despite the uproar, some fans came to the star's defence. One posted: "People just don't understand the costs of running a place, it's literally eye-watering. I wish you much success Jezza!"

The frontman, whose pub The Farmer's Dog opened in August 2024, recently laid bare just how expensive things have become behind the scenes.
In the latest series of his hit Prime Video show, Jeremy revealed the financial nightmares he's faced trying to buy and run a second pub, The Windmill. During a meeting with land agent Charlie Ireland, Jeremy was left gobsmacked at the renovation costs.
Charlie explained the roof alone was a "liability" and would cost £150,000 to repair. "Is your happiness hoover on?" Clarkson joked, before being hit with another blow - £100,000 needed to fix the toilets.
Jeremy scoffed as he learned the building had been branded a "fire hazard" due to wood listed in the survey, and groaned at the lack of "designated parking spaces at the property [for disabled parking]."
"All surveys are b****** because they all say 'this house is falling down'," he moaned. But it was clear the warnings stuck with him.
He later admitted: "That night I didn't sleep, I was worried about the pub. I decided I should talk to various mates who had bought pubs in the past to make sure I wasn't making a big mistake."
Clarkson consulted celebrity pals , James Blunt and Piers Morgan. Piers warned: "People steal stuff from pubs, every publican will tell you. They will nick the salt and pepper pots, they will nick knives and forks."
The former star soon learned how costly that could be. Writing in The Sunday Times, he revealed: "People seem to have it in their heads that if they come in for a pint they are entitled to go home with the glass in which it was served.
"One Sunday 104 went missing. And that cost must be added to the £100 a day we spend on fuel for the generator, the £400 a week it costs to provide warmth on the terrace and the £27,000 a month we must spend on parking and traffic marshals to keep the council off our back."
