It's the BBC's long-running love letter to British gardening, but some fans of Gardeners' World are calling for a major shake-up-claiming the show has become too polished and out of touch with reality. The flagship programme, fronted by beloved horticulturalist Monty Don, has been airing since 1968 on BBC Two and is known for its soothing tone, expert tips, and idyllic shots of blooming borders and picture-perfect lawns. But according to some viewers, some fans suggested a small shake-up as they took to social media.
One fan said: "I wish Gardeners' World would focus more on people with 'normal' gardens, not wealthy peoples' abodes!" Another added: "I completely agree. I want a Bob Ross garden show where they do everything wrong, everywhere is chaos! But they take pride and joy in the happy accidents that sometimes occur."

A third fan declared: "Show me wonky carrots, potatoes planted too late, wind-swept gladioli and rusty roses climbing an old gate. Four seeds in a row with one for a mouse, one for the crow and one just to rot. One seed to grow-give me that show."
Another mused: "My mum complains every time I put the show on that these gardens aren't realistic. I mean whatever, it's relaxing to watch them. I won't ever have Monty's garden, but he still inspires me to do things in what I do have"
Others were quick to defend Gardeners' World and its beloved lead presenter as they praised the show as "best on TV".
Monty, 69, has hosted the show since 2003 (with a brief hiatus from 2008 to 2011), and fans argue that he doesn't shy away from showing the less glamorous side of gardening.
"In argument to it all being too perfect, Monty does show failures-his citrus trees are one," one loyal viewer pointed out.

"His huge project of having to pull all the box... he did that whole segment on growing tomatoes straight out of the bags of soil.
They show home garden clips from viewers, Carol has her whole series on frugal propagation, seed collecting etc. Adam is starting all over, Frances had more modest home/yard and an allotment."
Each episode of Gardeners' World features practical gardening advice, seasonal planting tips, and visits to gardens across the UK-often including those submitted by everyday viewers.
The show has long been praised for its gentle tone, stunning visuals, and accessible advice for green-fingered fans of all levels.
