There was a stir on the busy roads of Navi Mumbai when a video of a 'human hand' hanging from the trunk of a moving Innova car went viral on social media. This video was recorded on the service road between Vashi and Sanpada railway station. In the video, a person's hand was clearly visible hanging out of the trunk of the Innova. While making this video, the driver passing from behind also said - "It seems someone has murdered someone and kept the body in the car." Saying this, he made the video viral and this footage spread like fire on social media.
Police and crime branch team became active immediately
As soon as the video went viral, Navi Mumbai Police and Crime Branch came on alert mode. The matter seemed so sensitive that many started suspecting murder or crime. According to Navi Mumbai Police, this video was shot on Monday evening around 6:45 pm. After identifying the car on the basis of the viral video, the police caught that Innova car from Ghatkopar area at 8:30 pm.
Turns out it was a promotional video shoot for a laptop brand
As the investigation progressed, the information that the police got was shocking. The young men sitting in the car turned out to be content creators and not criminals. Actually, those three young men were shooting a social media reel which was related to the promotion of a laptop brand . According to the script of the video, the bike rider gets scared after seeing the hand hanging out of the car's trunk and stops the car and asks to open the trunk. When the trunk opens, the young man sitting inside says - "Are you scared? But I am not dead, I am alive. Now listen about the great offers you get on our laptops."
All three youths are residents of Mumbai, police seized the video
Assistant Commissioner of Police Ajay Landge of Crime Branch said that the three youths are residents of Mumbai and had come to Navi Mumbai to attend a wedding. It was there that they shot this scripted video. During interrogation, the three youths admitted that all this was part of a promotional act. The police seized all the videos from their mobiles and cameras and investigated them to ensure that no other video contains objectionable or misleading content.
No FIR, but warning issued
No criminal case has been registered in this case so far. However, the police have strictly warned these youths that in future they should not make any such video which misleads or scares the public. Legal action can be taken for misusing the power of social media.
