Jasprit Bumrah's IPL Return Delayed, Akashdeep Likely to Be Fit by April 10

Send Push

Jasprit Bumrah’s participation in IPL 2025 remains uncertain as his return date has been extended. Initially expected to rejoin Mumbai Indians by April 1, the star pacer may now take longer, with his comeback possibly delayed until mid-April. Meanwhile, young pacer Akashdeep is expected to be fit and back in action by April 10.

Precautionary Rest for Bumrah

According to a Times of India report, Bumrah is fully fit but is being given additional rest as a precautionary measure. The BCCI medical team believes that increasing his workload immediately could risk another injury. With the crucial Test series against England scheduled right after the IPL, BCCI wants to ensure he is in peak condition.

Return Date Still Uncertain

BCCI sources indicate that while Bumrah has resumed bowling at the Center of Excellence, he is being monitored closely to avoid a recurrence of his stress fracture. While a specific return date hasn’t been set, mid-April seems to be a likely timeline. On the other hand, Akashdeep’s recovery is progressing well, and he is expected to return to action by April 10.

Injury Concerns Post-Australia Tour

Both Bumrah and Akashdeep sustained injuries during the Australia tour and haven’t played competitive cricket since. Bumrah suffered a lower back injury during the Sydney Test, while Akashdeep has been dealing with a back issue as well. Their absence has affected Team India, with Bumrah also missing the Champions Trophy.

With Mumbai Indians struggling in the tournament, Bumrah’s absence will be a major concern for the franchise. Fans will be hoping for a swift and safe return of their ace pacer.
