Ankita Dey’s story is a shining example of perseverance and dedication. Hailing from West Bengal, Ankita once studied standing in a crowded train. Today, she works as a Software Development Engineer (SDE) at the prestigious tech giant Microsoft, proving that courage and hard work can conquer all obstacles.

Early Academic Excellence

Ankita has always been sharp academically. She completed her 10th and 12th from Douglas Memorial Higher Secondary School, scoring an impressive 91% and 92.8% respectively. Her family supported her unwaveringly, encouraging her passion for learning.

Engineering and Self-Learning

She pursued a B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) from the Academy of Technology. It was during this time that Ankita’s interest in coding blossomed. Without formal classes, she taught herself programming by watching YouTube tutorials and continuously honing her skills.

Success in GATE and IIT Kanpur

With a dream to study at a premier institute, Ankita appeared for the GATE exam in 2020, securing an All India Rank of 312 in Computer Science. This remarkable achievement earned her admission to the M.Tech program at IIT Kanpur, where she continued to excel academically and received the Academic Excellence Award.

Dream Job at Microsoft

Following her stellar performance at IIT Kanpur, Ankita was offered a coveted role as a Software Development Engineer at Microsoft. This success highlights not only her personal triumph but also serves as an inspiration for students nationwide — demonstrating that with determination, even limited resources can’t hold back big dreams.
