Gushing compliments from aren’t a common occurrence – but when it comes to bestie , he’s breaking his own rules. The former TOWIE and Made In Chelsea stars have forged a solid bond over the past six years.
In this exclusive chat, Pete – who, but has been recently linked to another – delivers a love letter to his Staying Relevant podcast co-host (and other celeb pals), as the 37-year-old tells us what friendship for him is all about.
Pete, is it hard in your industry to have genuine relationships?

It’s hard to have strong, lasting relationships, regardless of what you do. But we have added pressure because everyone can comment on everything you do. My nan once said, ‘If you can get to the end of your life and can count on one hand five people that you trust and count as good friends, you’ve done well.’
And Sam’s one of those five?
Sam’s my little finger! He’s unapologetically himself. People think the dynamic stops once the cameras are off but no, he still rings me 15 times a day to chat. It’s nice to share this mad journey with someone I love. He’ll have a heart attack when he finds out I’ve said that.
Toxic masculinity and male role models are hot topics. Are you both positive role models?
We never planned to be the. We just love each other, and we’re always there for each other. Maybe men haven’t explored friendships further, because they generally find it difficult to talk. But it’s not always easy. Sam’s an emotional person. He likes to talk. I don’t – but he’s made me feel comfortable enough to, by being a safe space.
What about your friendships with women?
I grew up with two really strong women, my mum and my nan, so I’ve always felt comfortable around women. The idea that men and women can’t be friends is b******s. I count Vicky Pattison and as two really close friends. I adore the bones of those girls.

Tell us about your new Twix campaign – you’re Sam and Pete Twix now?!
It’s about sharing and friendship, and it’s great for Sam and I because there’d be no point doing the amazing things we do if we didn’t have someone to share them with.
You’ve both had some big relationship ups and downs to deal with this year...
Nicely put! Yes, we’ve both had so much going on. Sam had a ‘different’ start to the year [Sam split from in January]. Part of being someone’s friend is being there no matter what – to say, “Things are always going to get better,” and they have.
How is he at the moment?
He’s great. Sometimes it’s about allowing people to work on themselves, realise their worth. I hope I’ve helped him do that, because he's amazing, and he deserves the best.
Your For Dogs’ Sake show's commissioned for two more seasons and a Christmas special. You’re like the new Paul O’Grady!
I don’t feel like the new Paul O’Grady – he was an idol of mine and I don’t think anyone will be able to replace him. But this is a passion project for me. Being around animals is the only time I feel truly content. But it’s about the , and the incredible work of the Dogs Trust. They say heroes don’t wear capes, and it’s true.
We have to ask you about your new haircut…
It was an impulse decision. I’ve had my hair the same way for a long time. I was nervous, but the receding hairline is coming and the greys are sneaking in, so maybe I can mask that with a shorter cut. Sam’s had a glow-up too… He looks incredible. I’ve gone the other way. I’m getting old, grey and decrepit!
