A former Love Island star became a "borderline crack head" after appearing on the show. Danny, who appeared on the show back in 2019 struck up a relationship with Jourdan Riane.
The former couple instantly took a liking to each other when he entered Casa Amor on day 26 but just ten days later – they were voted off the island by fans. While they appeared to have a strong connection, their relationship didn't last long and a moth after moving in with one another, they split following rumours of infedelity.
Now, Danny has revealed that after finding fame, he turned to booze and substances in a bid to numb himself of pain. The reality star, who has since found love again explained that he was facing personal issues but had wanted to pretend his life was ok.

Taking to , Danny said: "I just hit the 2 year mark without having a single drop of alcohol (for those that don't know, I was a boarderline crackhead for many years (sic). Long story short, I covered my pain with drink and substances because I wasn't ready to face my own demons, it was easier to pretend than to face my truths.
"When most people go sober they say things like: 'I've got so much more energy now'. 'My sleep has improved so much'. 'I just feel amazing. I've got a spring in my step like never before'. Yeah all that's nice, but honestly, it's not MY experience, you wanna know the biggest benefit for me cutting alcohol out of my life?
"It's nothing physical at all."
Danny continued: "It's me knowing in my heart of hearts that on the mental scoreboard I have with myself, when I lay my head down on my pillow at night.. I'm not letting myself down anymore. Instead of constantly avoiding discomfort I'm facing it every single day BY CHOICE and becoming a better human, partner, son and future father because of it.
"I know that it's 'socially acceptable' to drink.. And I'm not here to say that anyone else needs to cut it out of their life completely either. But running away from discomfort because it 'doesn't feel nice' in the moment, is the fastest way to eliminate your self esteem and feel completely inadequate in life.
"Because you know between you and your heart, that scoreboard says: 'yeah, he always ran from a challenge' and no matter how socially acceptable your excuses are, deep down you know the truth. How are you supposed to feel capable when every day you prove to yourself that you're not?
"Taking control of your fears and facing them head on will set you free. I promise. I'm running my 8 week Summer Sculpt Challenge (starting Monday) to help you get lean and fit with a warrior mentality - this challenge is for you if you're done with the excuses and you're ready to step into your potential
"You've got more in the locker and deep down, you know it." Danny previously opened up about the toll his reality fame had on him – explaining his once successful modelling career hit an all time low when he left . He said that the show caused "more harm than good".
Speaking on social media, he added "I lost all my clients and I had to start again from zero." But just last year, he managed to get things back on track and was instead using his position and experience to help upcoming models navigate the tough industry.
Last year, he said: "Fast forward to 2024 and I'm back doing what I love, a career which allows me to get paid to travel, work with cool creatives and connect with global brands. I'’s some of the most rewarding work I've ever done in my life."
