LA crash: At least nine people including children injured after minivan ploughed into crowd

Several people were injured on Sunday afternoon when a minivan drove into a crowd in Los Angeles, as reported by the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The incident occurred just before 3.15 pm at Santee Alley in the city's Fashion District. The victims included several children, however, the authorities have not yet released any information regarding their conditions.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are still unclear. However, footage from the Citizen App shows the minivan colliding with a structure along the sidewalk in the 300 block of East 12th Street near Santee Alley, a popular outdoor shopping venue in the area.

LAFD crews arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and promptly cordoned off the area with yellow crime scene tape. Officials reported that all victims were in "fair condition", reports .

This includes a 23-year-old woman who left the scene against medical advice. Four woman, aged 54, 65, 30 and 23 as well as three young boys, aged, 8, 11 and 17 were transported to the hospital in fair condition.

The has advised drivers to anticipate delays around 12th Street for several hours while the investigation is ongoing.

No details have been disclosed about the driver of the car, and police have not indicated whether any arrests have been made or if they suspect foul play. There was no suggestion that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, or if the minivan's driver will face criminal charges.

Firefighters stayed at the scene into the late afternoon to try and retrieve the minivan, which was stuck under a collapsed patio awning, as per officials.
