A synopsis reads: “The trailer sees retired assassin Julie (Hawes) and her estranged son Edward (Highmore) amidst high-stake drama and thrilling action as they are forced to flee an idyllic Greek island when Julie’s dangerous past catches up with her.
“With questions around Edward’s paternity and Julie’s past life as a hitwoman, the pair go on the run across Europe, working together in a fight for survival.
“Along the way, their dysfunctional relationship is tested to its limits. They uncover a dark conspiracy they believe to be their only threat, but a greater danger emerges that could destroy their relationship entirely.
“In a race against time, Julie fights to save Edward and salvage their relationship as past and present collide in a showdown across the globe…”
Joining Highmore and Hawes is an all-star cast featuring plenty of familiar faces from hit films and TV series.
Supporting cast members include Riverdale’s Gina Gershon, Baby Reindeer’s Shalom Brune-Franklin, The Morning Show’s Jack Davenport and Game of Thrones’ Richard Dormer.
Rounding out the ensemble are Alan Dale, Gerald Kyd, Devon Terrell and David Dencik.
Harry and Jack Williams, known for The Tourist, Boat Story and The Missing, are the writers and creators, with additional scripting by Killing Eve’s Krissie Ducker, Significant Other’s Hamish Wright and Sex Education’s Selina Kim.
With unbeatable credentials in front of and behind the camera, The Assassin is shaping up to be one of the year’s buzziest new thrillers yet.
The Assassin premieres Friday, 25th July exclusively on Prime Video in the UK and Ireland.
