Dermot O’Leary has come under fire for his behaviour towards Sir Trevor McDonald at the National Television Awards.
The biggest night in British TV took place on Wednesday (10th September) with the NTAs returning to screens. Live from London’s O2 Arena, the awards show was hosted by Joel Dommett.
From reality TV to soaps, an array of popular shows were hoping to take home some gongs, like EastEnders, The Masked Singer and This Morning. There were several famous faces in attendance too, including Stacey Solomon, Davina McCall and Jeremy Clarkson.

For the Returning Drama award former NTA presenters Dermot O’Leary and Sir Trevor McDonald were on hand to present the gong. Shows including Call the Midwife, Gangs Of London, Heartstopper, Slow Horses and Vera were in for a chance.
However, after reading out the nominations, Sit Trevor took a while to announce the winner. Dermot appeared to roll his eyes and indicate Sir Trevor to move on by moving his hands quickly, which he did.
Sir Trevor then read out the winner which was Call the Midwife. However, fans at home couldn’t help but call out Dermot for his “rude” behaviour towards Sir Trevor on the stage.
On X, one person wrote: “Dermot kinda showed his true colours there looking p****d at Trevor McDonald for not opening an envelope.” Another added: “Dermot is f*****g rude wtf was that.”

A third chimed in: “Well that wasn't awkward with Trevor Mcdonald.” Someone else penned: “Dermot is weird.” A fifth mused: "Why is Dermot being a d****** towards Sir Trev?"
Elsewhere, other fans were left concerned for Sir Trevor, with one person writing: "Is Trevor McDonald okay?" A second said: "Poor Trevor looked so lost when he opened that award. I hope he's ok."
Meanwhile it was a big night for the likes of Michael McIntyre who won The Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award for Michael McIntyre’s Big Show and I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! won best reality competition.
Clarkson's Farm won Factual Entertainment too, and also, EastEnders' Steve McFadden won the award for Best Serial Drama Performance and Gary Lineker bagged the gong for Best Presenter.
