Coronation Street legend Kevin Webster lashed out when he discovered that his estranged wife Abi had been having an affair with his brother Carl on Wednesday's episode of the ITV soap.
The mechanic, who has been played by Michael Le Vell since 1983, married Abi in 2021 after having previously been married to Sally Metcalfe, but she called it all off in scenes that aired last week. Despite his suspicions, she did not disclose that she split up with him because she'd been having an affair with his brother.
Kevin and Carl's sister Debbie (Sue Devaney) discovered the truth herself when she found that Abi had kept a key to one of her hotel rooms, and put two and two together to realise that they were using it for secret rendezvouses. She was left in a quandary about what to do about it, but it all came out in the open anyway in the latest instalment of the world's longest-running TV soap.

The feuding families had all gathered together at the Bistro to celebrate the birthday of Debbie's partner Ronnie (Vinta Morgan), and she had insisted on having them all together despite the tension. When Debbie took it upon herself to confront her sister-in-law, Abi questioned whether she'd done the same in the days Kevin had had affairs, and learned that she hadn't.
Debbie reasoned: "His own brother! You could've picked anyone. No one knows about this, it's not too late to end it all. You won't make him happy, you're not good enough." Of course, what Abi does not know, nor anyone else for that matter, is that Carl has also been sleeping with Ronnie's nephew James. Debbie then issued Kevin with a stark warning about legal proceedings as she told him: "You can not trust that woman!"
It was then that they noticed Abi and Carl had sloped off together, in a panic because Abi had accidentally text Kevin a message that would confirm her infidelity. The pair returned to the Bistro in the hopes of getting the phone back, but it was too late. Just as the birthday cake was coming out, Kevin flew into a rage and knocked it to the floor at the same time. He raged: "Us?! You and him?"
Kevin had no mercy, and threw a sharp punch right at his brother. Carl said: "I deserved that!" but Kevin shot back: "You deserve a lot more than that!" as the others tried to keep them apart and Debbie cried out in despair: "I hope you're happy with yourself!" at Abi.
Back at number 13, Abi and Kevin had to break the news to Jack, whom Kevin has from his affair with the late Molly Dobbs. Abi reasoned: "I know it's awful and I know your dad's hurt. Sometimes marriages break down..." and the teenager hit back: "But this is your fault! You and Uncle Carl! I don't want you to stay, I don't wanna see you ever again." Once he had stormed out, Kevin had some choice words for Abi.
He said: "He's right. It's all been about you. I've let you play me like a fiddle. After everything I've put up with over the years, careering from crisis to crisis, picking up the pieces. You've done me every wrong a person could do and each time I've forgiven you." But it seems that there is no going back this time, as he said: "When it all comes crashing down with Carl, don't come crying to me because I'll laugh in your face!"
Abi, who also has toddler Alfie from her one-night stand with the late Imran Habeeb, then turned up at the Chariot Square Hotel with her son to stay with Carl and made him promise that their relationship was what he wanted.
Over a candid chat with sister Debbie, Kevin admitted that he 'still loved' Abi but the hotel owner was having none of it as she firmly said: "You're better off without her, she's just a ball of chaos! She's selfish, messy, insecure. And you don't want that in your life! Neither does Jack." Fans will know that Debbie was diagnosed with vascular dementia earlier this year, but Kevin promised to always be there for her in the way she had been for him.
He added: "After today, you're the only family I've got round here. Well, the one I can trust anyway..."
