Next week she continues with her complaint, and the midwife blamed says she’s sorry for what she went through but none of it was her fault.
When Dee-Dee is advised to drop the complaint she stands her ground, and points out that she was a victim of racism. Dee-Dee bumps into a man named Wes on the street and recognises him from the hospital, unaware that he’s Zoe’s brother.
When the investigation leads to Dee-Dee being told the hospital found no wrongdoing, she attends a support group with women who have suffered a traumatic birth experience. Later in the week we see Dee-Dee reveal that black women are four times more likely to die during childbirth, shocking her friends, while she also informs Asha that if the hospital won’t hold Zoe accountable then she’ll have to do it herself.
