A farmer has died in a horrific tragedy after he was crushed to death by one of his during feeding time. The man was feeding his when one charged at him before crushing him against a wall. The cow continued to headbutt the farmer as he lay on the ground, screaming in pain.

The cow used its head to repeatedly ram the elderly man into a stack of tiles. The man is said to have passed out, but was snagged on a rope around the animal's neck. The attempted to shake the man loose, but due to him being caught on the rope, ended up dragging his limp body around the cowshed.

The animal's actions left the farmer almost stripped naked. Eventually, the cow managed to break free, leaving the elderly man in a heap on the ground.

The shocking incident took place in central on Friday, April 11. According to local reports, the victim went into the cowshed to feed the animals like he did every day.

But on this occasion, the cow reacted to him aggressively for some unknown reason. The farmer was rushed to hospital following the incident but died due to his injuries shortly after arrival.

Cattle breeding experts have said that cows, despite appearing docile, can often become dangerous when they feel threatened or surprised. A local vet said: "Cows can easily become agitated, especially in stressful situations. Farmers should always take precautions, such as avoiding sudden movements and observing the animals' behaviour before approaching them."

The Chinese authorities have yet to release further information about the attack, but the victim's family is expected to receive government support to cope with the loss. One local said: "Hearing the man's screams is so tragic and heartbreaking."

"It's really common, I bet it was a bullied calf," said another. A third suggested: "Maybe the cow was mistreated and took its revenge?"

It comes after a retired British teacher wasas he walked along Hadrian's Wall with a friend. 72-year-old Malcolm Flynn, a grandfather from Carlisle, was tossed into the air and repeatedly attacked by cattle and their calves after they charged at him, with one kicking him in the head as he lay seriously injured on the ground.

His friend, Christopher Barkless, had been walking with Mr Flynn along a section of Hadrian's Wall, and had to climb a tree to escape. He called emergency services, but his long-time friend could not be saved and died as a result of chest injuries. The tragic incident occurred in a field at Thirlwall Castle Farm near Gilsland, close to the Cumbria and Northumberland border, on September 11, 2020. Assistant Coroner Kirsten Mercer told inquest jurors how there was a sign warning walkers about the cows and calves in the field and how they could be “unpredictable”.

Mr Flynn, a father-of-two, was a member of the Ramblers’ Association and regularly walked with his friend Mr Barkless - the pair were completing the Hadrian’s Wall route in sections. The former chemistry teacher, who had been a manager with until he changed career in his 50s, had developed glaucoma which affected his eyesight and was troubled by arthritic pain in his foot. Mr Barkless said they had set off from Gilsland that morning and after entering a field he noticed four cows and their calves blocking the path, so he changed course. He told the inquest: “I was not comfortable with that situation, they were not behaving in a manner that I would expect.”

Mr Barkless said he told his friend he was changing course and turned his back only to hear a “tumultuous motion” as the cattle moved quickly towards Mr Flynn and he started to run away. The witness said a cow shoulder charged the pensioner, knocking him to the ground, then flipped him up in the air. He lay injured on the ground and every time he moved after that a cow would trample him, Mr Barkless said. He rang 999 from a hawthorn tree and worried if he tried to help his stricken friend, the cows would charge over Mr Flynn again. When Mr Flynn made a final attempt to get up a cow kicked him in the face, Mr Barkless said.
