BBC Breakfast interrupted as star disappears off screen during live broadcast

BBC Breakfast faced an embarrassing technical hiccup on Friday when Matt Taylor was forced to abandon his weather forecast after suffering an awkward blunder.

The meteorologist was compelled to walk off-screen in a desperate attempt to resolve the issue, but his efforts proved futile.

Matt began his forecast by telling viewers: "But I've got some sunshine just about coming up, very good morning too. Yes, I know some of you are looking for some longer, drier, sunnier spells, and across southern areas at least.

"Can't promise it everywhere just yet, but we could be seeing something a little bit more like that as we go into next week."

"Now, if we can just get these graphics to work," Matt persisted as he struggled to alter the graphics behind him. "Are they going to come up... but certainly yes, well, if you do the forecast almost backwards," reports the Express.

The BBC Breakfast host disrupted the programme when he discovered the remote control had malfunctioned. "Let me just grab another clicker and see if this one works for you," he announced as he vanished off-screen.

"Here we go. No, doesn't want to work anyway, but anyway, let me just tell you quickly, because next week, we should see a bit more sunshine around, certainly across southern and eastern areas of the country, with temperatures up to 25, 26 degrees potentially.

"But to get there, we could actually see some very stormy weather for a time that's due into Monday, deep air of low pressure is going to push its way northwards and eastwards across the country.

"So if you are on holiday in the short term, we still have some wet weather to come, maybe a bit of sunshine on Saturday, Sunday, and some wet weather pushing its way through, and then Monday, potential for some disruptive weather with wind, 50 to 70 miles an hour, especially across parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland and potentially Northern England."

"I'll have more on that later this morning, once I've got the graphics working once again," Matt added.

When Matt handed back to Charlie and Naga in the studio, Charlie remarked: "Just listen to what you're saying, by the way.

"What happens behind there? Everyone's wondering now you nipped off and you came back out. Do you keep some things there?".

"I've got all my clickers," Matt revealed, as Naga interjected and inquired, "Are your batteries not working?"

"I'll sort it out now," he concluded.
