In a shocking case from Jaipur, Rajasthan, an attempt to manipulate the police recruitment process has backfired severely. A man who allegedly bought the SI (Sub-Inspector) exam paper for ₹15 lakh to secure his girlfriend's success now finds himself on the run — with the Jaipur High Court denying any relief and slapping a ₹50,000 fine on him.
Court Rejects Plea, Declares Charges SeriousThe petitioner, Purushottam Dadhich, who worked as an accountant in the Health Department, had filed a plea in the Jaipur High Court seeking the cancellation of the FIR against him. He claimed the accusations were false and said he even tried to surrender in a lower court in April, but was not taken into custody.
However, Justice Sameer Jain dismissed his petition on Thursday, siding with the Special Task Force (SOG), which strongly opposed the plea. The court not only imposed a ₹50,000 fine on Purushottam but also observed that his actions undermined the integrity of the police recruitment process.
Girlfriend’s Confession Unraveled the PlotThe scandal surfaced when Renu Kumari, who had cleared the SI exam in 2024, was arrested in October. During interrogation, she confessed that her boyfriend Purushottam arranged the leaked question paper, allegedly paying ₹15 lakh for it.
After the confession, Purushottam went absconding, taking leave from his government job. A reward of ₹25,000 has since been announced by the police for information leading to his arrest, and a permanent warrant has been issued.
Salary Suspended, Reputation in RuinsBased on the SOG’s report, Purushottam’s salary has been suspended, and his professional record is now tarnished. Authorities have intensified the search for him, underlining their zero-tolerance stance on recruitment fraud.
