Train services on the Central Railway’s down fast line were severely affected on Tuesday morning after a bull was struck and killed by a fast local train between Kalwa and Mumbra stations.
About The Incident
The incident occurred around 10:06 am, causing significant delays and diversions in the morning commute. According to CR, Restoration work was promptly undertaken, and the down fast line was cleared and reopened to traffic by 11:08 am.
According to railway officials, the bull had strayed onto the tracks and was hit by a down fast local train . The impact killed the animal instantly, and its body became lodged under the wheels of the train, forcing authorities to halt services on the down fast line.
As a result, all fast local trains traveling from Thane towards Kalyan were diverted onto the down slow line, leading to congestion and delays. Three local trains were stranded for up to 30 minutes during the disruption.
Railway authorities have urged the public and local communities to keep livestock away from railway tracks to prevent such accidents and ensure the safety of both animals and commuters.
