Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The state school education department will plant 50 lakh saplings under Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0 campaign by September 30 with students’ participation. It has been decided to plant one lakh saplings in each district.
The department has decided to run the campaign on a large scale through Eco Club in the schools from June 5. The Directorate of Public Instruction has written letters to all the district education officers (DEOs) and district project coordinators and issued instructions. Priority will be given to planting local and regional species of saplings.
The DEOs have been asked to prepare an action plan according to the schools, land available in the village and the student strength of the school. A committee has been asked to be formed under the chairmanship of collector.
The committee has been asked to include divisional forest officer, DEOs, DPCs, principals, eminent citizens. The DEOs and the DPCs will be the District Education Center Assistant Nodal Officer. Preparations for the plantation have been asked to be done by June 4.
Plantation will be done mainly in the school premises, the road leading to the school, public places and around the pond. After planting the saplings, the responsibility for their protection has also been decided
After the summer vacation from June 15, children have been asked to speak on importance of plants during the morning assembly. There will be a plaque with the planted saplings in which the name of the student and his mother will also be mentioned. A QR code can also be created for each tree species, which will enable digital dissemination of botanical information.
