NTPC Bongaigaon’s Environment Management Group (EMG) organised a special awareness session for the participants of the Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2025, to mark the International Plastic Bag Free Day. The session aimed to sensitise the young girls about the harmful effects of plastic use and the importance of adopting sustainable alternatives in daily life.
As part of the initiative, eco-friendly jute bags were distributed to the GEM girls by Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, in the presence of Smt. Kasturi Maitra, President, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, along with office bearers of the ladies club.
Trainers from M/s Tusti Foundation, who are actively engaged in skill development programmes related to Areca leaf nutsand jute products for the females of Project Affected Villages, displayed their range of sustainable products and interacted with the girls. The session encouraged the young participants to understand the significance of sustainability and inspired them to make conscious choices that contribute to a greener future.
Through such activities, NTPC Bongaigaon continues to promote environmental responsibility while empowering young minds to become ambassadors of change in their communities.
