Kyiv: A Russian missile struck the warehouse of a Indian pharmaceutical company in Ukraine's capital Kyiv, the Ukrainian embassy said on Saturday. "Today, a Russian missile struck the warehouse of Indian pharmaceutical company Kusum in Ukraine. While claiming 'special friendship' with India, Moscow deliberately targets Indian businesses - destroying medicines meant for children and the elderly," Ukraine's embassy said.
Notably, just days ago Russia invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the May 9 celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of its victory against Germany during World War II.

A video from the spot has also surfaced. In the video the warehouse can be seen engulfed in fire, and a cloud of smoke is emitting out.

Meanwhile, There has been no official word from Indian and Russian governments in regards to the matter.
Kusum is owned by Indian businessman Rajiv Gupta and is among the largest pharmaceutical firms in Ukraine.
India's Stance In Russia-Ukrane War
While India has called for peace and an end to war between the two countries, it has not openly taken sides.
India has been buying a large volume of oil from Russia soon after the war started in February 2022. Russia continues to be India's top oil source. India imported 1.48 million barrels per day (bpd) of crude oil from Russia in February, against 1.67 million bpd in the previous.
Russia-India Friendship
Russia has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the May 9 celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of its victory against Germany during World War II.
Earlier in 2024, when Vladimir Putin and PM Modi had met in Russia's Kazan for the 16th BRICS Summit, highlighting his friendship with Prime Minister Modi, President Putin said that the bond between the two countries and the two leaders is so strong that PM Modi would understand him even without the help of any translator.
"Our relationship is so strong that you will understand me without any translation," President Putin had said.
