Akshya Kumar, Ananya Panday and R Madhavan's Kesari Chapter 2 is all set to hit the big screens on Friday (April 18). Recently, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri organised a special screening of the film in Delhi and those who watched the film have flooded social media platforms with their reviews.

In Kesari 2, Akshay is seen as advocate C Sankaran Nair, who had sued the British government and fought for truth post the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in 1919.

While a section of film critics and social media users have praised Akshay's performance in the film, others have already demanded a National Award for the actor.

Some called the courtroom drama 'engrossing', others praised the makers of bringing the untold story of Sankaran Nair on the big screen.

"This engrossing courtroom drama brings alive a page of our history - of a lesser known but heroic legal luminary Sir C. Sankaran Nair - on the silver screen. From the first scene to the last, the movie engulfs you. @akshaykumar Ji, @actormaddy Ji and the entire cast & crew were incredible. Revisiting the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in any story is heartbreaking, but also makes us so grateful for the freedom we enjoy today. Don’t take my word for it. Please do go and watch Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh," a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) read.

"The film is emotional, evocative, and hair-raising, brought to life by the powerhouse performances of @akshaykumar Ji and @ActorMadhavan Ji - two #cinematictitans who deliver a riveting portrayal of courage and conviction. Their on-screen duel captures the #tension and #gravity of the era, making you feel the weight of what it meant to stand up against #injustice," read another review.

Take a look at some other reviews here:

On April 13, 1919, British officers had opened fire at innocent Indians who had assembled at Jallianwala Bagh in Punjab, killing hundreds of innocent men, women and children. The incident is termed as one of the darkest chapters in India's history.

In Kesari Chapter 2, Akshay will be seen locking horns inside the courtroom with R Madhavan, who is set to essay the role of advocate Neville McKinley, the lawyer who represented the British empire in the case. The film is directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and produced by Karan Johar.
