Who is Richard Gleeson, English pacer joining MI in IPL final IPL league match?

Mumbai Indian’s newest addition to the team is Richard Gleeson 37, who will replace Ryan Rickleton who has gone back to South Africa for the upcoming World Test Championship. He has been bought at his reserve price of one crore.

Richard, a right arm fast bowler can be a great addition to the team provided Mumbai Indians win their knockout match against Delhi Capitals.

He has been bought along with Jonny Bairstow and Charith Aslanka to replace players like Ryan Rickleton, Corbin Bosch and Will Jacks who have left the IPL for national duties. The players had to return home as the league got delayed due suspension of IPL due to India Pakistan conflict.

Mumbai Indians are currently at the fourth position in the points table.
Who is Gleeson?

He was born on 2nd December 1987 at Blackpool in Lancashire, England. He was a PE teacher before he made his first professional appearance at the age of 27 for Northamptonshire as a trialist.

Richard Gleeson is an English cricketer who in his first eight balls that he bowled, took four wickets including three of the finest of Indian batsmen– Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant. His international debut was in England vs India T20I on 9th July 2022 at the age of 34.

He has played 115 matches and taken 112 wickets at an economy of 8.02, for England’s national team.

In 2016, Gleeson became a key figure in Northamptonshire’s NatWest T20 Blast campaign. Although he missed Finals Day, his contributions were vital in getting them there. He impressed with tight economy rates, keeping runs below six per over, using aggressive full-length deliveries and delivering yorkers with precision under pressure.

Richard made his IPL debut with Chennai Super Kings last year and went unsold in this year's auction.
