SpiceJet has introduced daily non-stop flights between Delhi and Kathmandu, set to begin operations from May 10, 2025.
The announcement was made on Friday and marks the airline's first new international route following its successful Qualified Institutional Placement (QIP), it said.
“We are thrilled to introduce daily non-stop flights between Delhi and Kathmandu, one of the most sought-after routes in the region. Think ancient temples, bustling bazaars, and the gateway to eight of the world’s tallest peaks, including Everest – all just a SpiceJet flight away! And for our friends in Nepal, Delhi becomes your springboard to the world, with seamless connections to Dubai, the Middle East, and beyond!” said Debojo Maharshi, Chief Business Officer of SpiceJet.
This new route, operated by a Boeing 737 aircraft, strengthens SpiceJet's international network, which already includes popular destinations such as Dubai and Bangkok. Maharshi further emphasized that the addition of this route aligns with the airline’s commitment to expanding connectivity and offering passengers more affordable travel options.
“This new route is a testament to our commitment to enhancing connectivity and providing travellers with more affordable and convenient flight options. As we continue expanding our fleet and network, passengers can look forward to more exciting destinations in the coming months,” Maharishi added.
The new flights will cater to both leisure and business travellers, providing easy access to the region's historic sites and serving as a gateway to Everest and beyond.
Flight SG 41 will depart from Delhi at 8:10 am (local time) and arrive in Kathmandu at 9:55 am (local time). The return flight, SG 42, will leave Kathmandu at 10:55 am (local time) and reach Delhi at 1:10 pm (local time).
Bookings for the new route are now open and can be made via the SpiceJet website, mobile app, and through online travel agents.
This announcement follows a period of growth for the airline, which has expanded its domestic network with new routes to cities such as Shivamogga, Tuticorin, Porbandar, and Dehradun. Additionally, SpiceJet has resumed services to previously served destinations like Gorakhpur.
SpiceJet's financial stability has also been bolstered by recent credit rating upgrades from Acuité Ratings & Research Limited and CareEdge Ratings, as well as an INR 294.09 crore capital infusion from promoter Ajay Singh.
