Ibrahim Ali Khan admits threatening Pakistani critic after comments over his nose in 'Nadaaniyan' review

Ibrahim Ali Khan, son of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, recently found himself at the center of an online controversy following the release of his debut film Nadaaniyan. The film, which premiered on Netflix in March, drew mixed reactions from audiences and critics alike. Among the harshest responses came from Pakistani film critic Tamur Iqbal, who posted a critical review that targeted both the film and Ibrahim personally.

In an interview with Filmfare, Ibrahim confirmed sending a strongly worded message to Iqbal in response to the comments. Admitting his mistake, Ibrahim said, “I know I shouldn’t have reacted but I’m also new to public scrutiny. When he made that personal comment about my body, it felt like a below-the-belt remark. But going forward, I’ll be more composed. I shouldn’t have reacted. It won’t happen again.”

The Viral DM and Ibrahim’s Reaction

Shortly after Nadaaniyan was released, Tamur Iqbal shared an Instagram story mocking Ibrahim’s acting skills and appearance, specifically referencing his nose. He later posted a screenshot of a private message sent by Ibrahim, which quickly went viral online.

The message read: “Tamur almost like Taimur .. you got my brother’s name. Guess what you don't got? His face. You ugly piece of trash, since you can't keep your words to yourself don't bother, they're irrelevant just like you. Ugly goddamn piece of s**t I feel bad for you and your family - and if I see you on the streets one day, I'll make sure I leave you uglier than you are - you walking piece of scum.”

The tone and content of the message drew heavy criticism from social media users, especially since Ibrahim initially chose not to respond publicly. His eventual confirmation in the Filmfare interview ended all speculation about the authenticity of the screenshot.

Tamur Iqbal Responds Publicly

Tamur Iqbal’s reaction to the message also garnered attention. He replied, “Hahahahaha see that’s my man. This is the guy I want to see in the movie. Not that fake cornetto mushy cringy human. But hey yes that nose job comment was in bad taste. Rest I totally own up. Massive fan of your dad, don’t let him down.”

Despite acknowledging that his earlier remark was inappropriate, Tamur's overall tone remained unapologetic, while also expressing admiration for Saif Ali Khan.

Ibrahim Defends Nadaaniyan

While reflecting on the film’s reception, Ibrahim noted that viewers may have had different expectations. He stated, “Social media is a hateful world, right now. They tried to twist it a lot. Sure, as a lead actor, I have to bring in loads more than what I did. I know I can bring it and I am confident that I will bring it in my future projects. But I’m happy with what it was.”

Directed by Shauna Gautam and co-starring Khushi Kapoor, Nadaaniyan was intended to be a light, romantic comedy. However, it faced considerable trolling, especially directed at Ibrahim’s acting performance.

Despite the negative feedback and the online backlash, Ibrahim seems focused on growth. He admitted the criticism was tough, but he's ready to move forward and learn from the experience. Ibrahim will next be seen in Sarzameen, where he shares the screen with Kajol and South Indian actor Prithviraj.
