BLS International Services Limited has been awarded a contract by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) to establish and operate Indian Visa Application Centres (IVACs) in China. This contract will be valid for a period of 3 years and came into effect on October 14.
Under the terms of the agreement, BLS International will be responsible for establishing and managing Indian Visa Application Centres (IVACs) in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, "offering streamlined, secure, and customer-friendly visa services." The IVACs will incorporate enhanced infrastructure, advanced technology, and multilingual staff to ensure a seamless experience for applicants, said the company in a press release.
“We are honoured to receive this prestigious contract from the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and look forward to providing excellent services. We believe this is a significant milestone for BLS international and these IVACs will play a vital role in facilitating reliable and user-centric visa services. We thank the Ministry of External Affairs for its continued trust and confidence in BLS International," said Shikhar Aggarwal, Joint Managing Director of BLS International Services Ltd.
The shares of BLS International soared nearly 15% to trade at Rs 319 apiece on the BSE as of 2:18 pm on Thursday.
This comes days after MEA barred BLS from participating in any future tenders issued by Indian Missions and Posts abroad for the next two years. The order, issued on Friday last week, restricts BLS from bidding for new projects with Indian embassies, consulates, and diplomatic offices worldwide. The company said the action relates to certain court cases and complaints from applicants, but did not elaborate on specific details.
In a clarification, BLS said that ongoing contracts with Indian Missions will remain operational, ensuring that visa, passport, and biometric services for Indians abroad continue without disruption. The company stated that the MEA order applies only to future tenders and will not affect existing agreements.
Indian Missions accounted for about 12% of the company’s consolidated revenue in the first quarter of FY26.
