Adding to the buzz, PBKS co-owner and Bollywood actress Preity Zinta was spotted in the stands for the first time this season. Her return coinciding with the team's first loss sparked plenty of chatter online.

About PBKS vs RR

Punjab Kings' winning streak came to an end as Rajasthan Royals handed them their first defeat of IPL 2025 with a dominant 50-run win in Mullanpur. Opting to bowl first, PBKS were put under pressure early as Yashasvi Jaiswal notched up his first half-century of the season, while Riyan Parag chipped in with an unbeaten 43 off 25. RR posted a commanding 205/4 — the first 200-plus total.

In response, Punjab got off to a disastrous start, losing two wickets in the very first over and slumping to 40/4 inside seven overs. Nehal Wadhera fought back with a gritty fifty, but disciplined spells from Maheesh Theekshana and Sandeep Sharma ensured PBKS never recovered. They eventually crawled to 155/9, falling well short as RR secured their second consecutive win of the season.
