Wolves vs Tottenham predicted as four-goal Premier League thriller unfolds

After a tough Europa League clash midweek, Tottenham return to Premier League action as they travel to the West Midlands to take on Wolves.

With Spurs in the bottom half of the Premier League table, winning the Europa League seems the biggest priority, but a 1-1 draw at home to Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-final first leg on Thursday night has left the tie in the balance ahead of the return fixture in Germany next week. Undoubtedly the second leg will have most of Spurs' attention, but for now, Ange Postecoglou's side must focus on the Premier League where they take on an in-form Wolves side.

Spurs confirmed Southampton's relegation last week, with the Lilywhites beating the Saints 3-1 to put an end to their own four-game winless run in the league. Wolves have won their last three league games in a row ahead of the Spurs clash, most recently a 2-1 win over Ipswich Town, putting 12 points between themselves and the relegation zone.

To complete this simulation, we used EA FC 25 and updated the squads with the latest injuries and suspensions.

We predict that the hosts could set up in a 3-4-2-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Sa; Doherty, Agbadou, Gomes; Semedo, Gomes, Andre, Ait-Nouri; Munetsi, Cunha; Strand Larsen

We predict that Spurs could line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their starting XI as follows: Vicario; Porro, Romero, Davies, Spence; Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison; Odobert, Solanke, Tel.

Spurs started on the front foot at Molineux, and six minutes in they went ahead, with Cristian Romero diverting Ben Davies' header into the net from close range with an acrobatic flick. The Spurs dominance continued, and just before the break, a quickfire double saw Postecoglou's side enter half-time 3-0 up.

A one-two between Dominic Solanke and James Maddison saw the latter play Solanke through on goal, and as the keeper rushed off his line, the striker toe-poked the ball through his legs for Spurs' second. Moments later, the Lilywhites won the ball back high up the pitch, and Wilson Odobert picked out Maddison's bursting run into the box who blasted his shot into the far corner to give Spurs a three-goal advantage.

Just after half-time, Spurs were handed a blow as Djed Spence was sent off, with the defender judged to have been the last man as he pulled back Matheus Cunha on the counterattack. Wolves dominated after gaining the man advantage, and with 20 minutes to go, they pulled a goal back as Jorgen Stand Larsen peeled away from Davies to tap Pablo Sarabia's cross into the net.

Wolves threw everything they had at Spurs in the final stages of the game, but Guglielmo Vicario made some tremendous saves to deny the hosts and help Spurs to victory on the road.
