During an appearance on The One Show tonight Richard Grant shared the real reason why he doesn't like to watch back scenes he's starred in - and it's a bit of a cheeky one. The renowned English actor was being quizzed on his role in new A24 horror comedy when he made the admission.

Show host Clara Amfo had questions about why both Richard and his fellow guest Harry Lawtey don't watch their own films. She asked the pair of actors: "Now Harry, you said that you never watch yourself back on screen. Richard, you don't do the same thing either.

"What's all that about? Watching yourself back?" Richard started off with a pragmatic answer, saying that by the point you are tuning in to a film you've acted in, "you can't fix it".

His statement implied that the A-lister might get anxiety if he sees himself making mistakes on screen, and would prefer not to be left cringing at his own performances.

However, he then went on to disclose the more personal reason he chooses not to see his own scenes. The actor added with a chuckle: "If you have to see yourself kissing somebody else or in bed with somebody else...you don't want to see it."

The actor's latest movie came out in UK cinemas today, and The One Show hosts admitted they were shocked by the amount of gore in it given the blockbuster has such a comedic trailer.

In Death of a Unicorn Richard plays Odell Leopold, the corrupt boss of a pharmaceutical company. One of Odell's employees (Elliot Kintner) and his daughter Ridley are on their way to spend the weekend at his family mansion in the countryside when they accidentally collide with a unicorn foal.

After putting the injured animal out of its misery, Elliot decides to hide it in the trunk of his car before journeying on to Odell's estate. Of course, it is not long before the business mogul discovers the creature and decides to start running experiments on it in the hopes of unlocking the unicorn's potential to heal people.

Richard has been praised for "saving" the film by a critic at who found the rest of the story "goofy and grating".

While on The One Show, the Hollywood star was also asked what his favourite film is out of his entire career history. With a big grin, he responded: "It was a very serious documentary about five young women called Spice World The Movie. That's it."

He burst out laughing as presenter Clara responded: "A classic! And what's the line? They've got fire in their bellies and great big shoes on their feet. Perfection." Spice World is a musical comedy that came out in 1997, with the iconic Spice Girls starring in it as themselves.
