Love Island's Catherine Agbaje breaks silence on Omar split with blunt response

The reality TV stars lasted only a few weeks before calling it a day on their relationship, with the season only having ended a matter of weeks ago on February 17. Catherine and Omar made it all the way to the final of the show, finishing in fourth place - beating out while being trumped by winners .

While they were fan-favourites in Casa Amor, it seems their romance wasn’t meant to be on the outside - and fans think they may have been separated for a while despite only just confirming their split.

Omar addressed the breakup on , snapping a straight-faced selfie of himself in response to a fan who asked: “Have you and Catherine ended things?”

Alongside the sombre snap, he wrote: “We both gave it a shot & decided we’re better off as friends. We’re still cool with each other, so please everyone don’t overthink. So my answer to you is… yes.”

In contrast, Catherine responded very differently when a fan asked on : “Are you and Omar still dating? You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to.”

Catherine captured herself wearing lounge clothes in the mirror, posing as she flashed a peace sign at the mirror. Adding to her carefree image, she was much less wordy and diplomatic than former PE teacher Omar as she simply wrote: “No xx”

Catherine’s flippant response to a fan comes after lots of speculation online, after she and Omar stopped posting photos of each other. The former couple still follow each other on social media, but fans also noticed that Omar hasn't liked Catherine's recent posts.

Catherine and Omar’s breakup might come as a shock, after the pair seemed to make big plans for their future while in the villa and immediately after leaving. While they were coupled up on Love Island, Omar’s family even started picturing them having kids together.

"I feel like that's how parents are, they think of the end goal they don't think of the in between, I love that for us it means they see such potential!" Catherine gushed of .

"When I hear family talk I know it’s really because I haven't been able to bring someone to my family in such a high manner, so this time it felt super nice and reassuring," Omar then said, with Catherine quickly adding: "Definitely no kids right now, though!"

Omar doubled down on his intent to stay with Catherine in a post made soon after getting home. On Instagram, he wrote: "From the deepest part of my heart I just wanna say thank you to everyone who’s supported my journey as well as Catherine’s because without her things wouldn’t be this way. I can’t wait to show you all more fun times ahead as we embark on this new journey in life!"
