Gary Neville has lamented the transfer decisions made by and maintains they had five players in their team on Sunday who need to be moved on. The Red Devils played out that highlighted how much they need to improve.
is yet to have the desired affect since arriving in November, but this summer he will get the chance to bring in his own players in what could be a defining transfer window. Recruitment has continued to be a major issue for the fallen giants.
was given a huge say in the club's transfer policy and many of the players he bought in have underdelivered. It has left Amorim with a squad that is not up to scratch, which has constantly been highlighted throughout the season.
Neville was scathing about the attacking threat - or lack of - they posed during the goalless draw at Old Trafford and maintained that the hierarchy need to source the players to help Amorim with the likes of Patrick Dorgu and Rasmus Hojlund potentially facing the chop.
He said on : "They need five new players straight away before you even think about the rest of it. The three up front are not good enough and the two wing-backs, they're not good enough. If the starting XI from Sunday is the barometer then Neville appears to be calling out Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho, Joshua Zirkzee, Diogo Dalot and Dorgu - who only joined in the - but has been unable to have much of an impact.
Neville also bemoaned the club's sale decisions, insisting they have offloaded individuals only to replace them with players of a lesser quality. The likes of Danny Welbeck and Anthony Elanga have been moved on but shown themselves to be strong performers elsewhere - both scoring against the Manchester outfit this year.
He said: "The players up front are just not of the quality required at the club. That sounds really harsh but it's the truth. United have let players go - and I'm not saying they're the solution right now. But they've replaced players who weren't at the standard, with players who are not at that level."
