Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Kai Havertz Arsenal injury latest after huge statement released

Send Push

Mikel Arteta has already been handed five separate Arsenal injury blows after just three games of the new Premier League season. During wins over Manchester United and Leeds United, Arteta saw two of his players pick up issues with William Saliba the latest casualty.

The centre-back managed just a few minutes against Liverpool at Anfield, and the immediate readiness of a sub certainly indicated it was a concern known to Arteta. The Gunners boss was already without Bukayo Saka for the title clash after he suffered a hamstring injury just eight days earlier.

Martin Odegaard was also taken off in that 5-0 victory over Leeds, but he was able to shake off his issue to return. The same could not be said for Kai Havertz, however, with the 26-year-old requiring minor surgery.

Small knocks have also seen Ben White and Christian Norgaard remain unavailable, but the hope will be that both are back following the current international break. With all of that being said, football.london has rounded up the latest Arsenal injury news;

Bukayo Saka

Saka missed the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool in Premier League action last Sunday after going off clutching a hamstring against Leeds the previous weekend. Unsurprisingly, he has not been called up to the England squad for World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia.

A return later this month has not been ruled out but it does seem more likely he will be back in October.

What Arteta has said: "Bukayo is doing better, but he will be out for a few weeks.

"No surgery. It's not as bad as the previous one, so very unfortunate. It was an action that required full power from him, had to change direction and he felt something."

Possible return date: Late September/early October.

William Saliba

After just a few minutes of the huge clash with Liverpool, Saliba was forced off with injury. It was later confirmed that he would not be featuring for France over the international break.

"William Saliba, who started for Arsenal against Liverpool on Sunday, was forced off in the fifth minute," a statement read. "He will not be able to honour his call-up for the first training camp of the season.

"He is suffering from a sprained left ankle.

"After a discussion with Franck Le Gall, the French team doctor, Didier Deschamps confirmed the unavailability of William Saliba. The national coach has decided to call up Benjamin Pavard as a reinforcement."

With sprained ankles, it is unclear how long Saliba will be out for - as recovery times range from a few weeks to several months. However, he was able to offer a thumbs-up to a journalist in the mixed zone when asked how he was.

What Arteta has said: "He twisted his ankle during the warm-up, and he came in and he said he believed that he could carry on and play, but straight away in the first two actions. I could see that he couldn't cope, and we had to get him out, unfortunately."

Possible return date: Unknown

Kai Havertz

Arsenal confirmed that Havertz had undergone surgery last week for the issue suffered against Man United on the opening day. However, Arteta appears hopeful he won't be absent for a significant period.

What Arteta has said: "I think it will be weeks, but I don't know how many months.

"Very unfortunate, very sad for him. I think he did tremendously well to recover from the previous one. He's never had an injury before. And suddenly this happens, but this is our profession, our football.

"We need to live with that. Obviously, we lose another big player for many, many weeks. But it was the right thing to do. The doctors advised and I think he was very convinced at the end that it was the quickest and the best way to resolve that issue.

"Every time there is a surgery you expect something like this. I'll leave that for the medical staff to explain in detail what it was. But hopefully the most important thing is when he gets back he's in good condition - and maybe in a long time he'll be protected by the players.

Possible return date: Unknown

Martin Odegaard

Odegaard wasn't fit enough to start against Liverpool but the Arsenal captain did manage to come in for the final 20 minutes at Anfield.

What Arteta has said: "So, Martin felt something in his shoulder when he landed. We don't know. We'll have to scan him tomorrow and understand a bit better."

Possible return date: Returned

Ben White

White has now missed Arsenal's last two Premier League matches, but it seems likely that he will return after the international break having had two weeks to recover further.

What Arteta has said: "With Ben, let's see..."

Possible return date: Nottingham Forest (H) - Saturday, September 13

Christian Norgaard

Norgaard will be hoping to make his competitive debut against Nottingham Forest later this month with an injury meaning he has not played in nearly one month.

What Arteta has said: "Christian won't be in the squad [vs Leeds]. [He] will be out for another week or so."

Possible return date: Nottingham Forest (H) - Saturday, September 13

Gabriel Jesus

After suffering a serious knee injury back in January, Gabriel Jesus isn't expected back until later this year but he could even be out until early 2026 - with Arsenal leaving him out of their squad for the Champions League group stages.

Possible return date: Late 2025/early 2026
